After 14 years of residing in Michigan, Erica and her family moved back “home” to Sonoma County, California. Erica is married and has two children, both boys. The family is excited to be back in California and to give their kids the opportunity to live near extended family. Prior to joining Community Matters, Erica served as an Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Her experience includes non-profit leadership, coaching, training, program development, implementation, fundraising, marketing and community relations. Erica’s non-profit experience also includes management positions with the YMCA and the American Heart Association. She holds a B.A. in Management and Organizational Development from Spring Arbor University. “I was fortunate to have ‘fallen’ into the non-profit world at an early age. While I never planned on non-profit work as a career, I realized that the work that I do, is not simply a job, it is passion. I couldn’t imagine doing a job where I did not have the opportunity to feel I was truly making a difference for my community, for the world. All of my non-profit experience has related to youth development…I truly believe that youth are the future and that they need support to grow up as strong, productive and amazing individuals. Community Matters fits in perfectly with my belief system and I am proud to be a member of the team and the mission,” says Erica.
