Ilene Fortune, MS EdTraining Team
Ilene is always looking to build her own skills as a peacemaker. After earning a B.A. in Social Psychology, and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a Specialization in Conflict Resolution and Peaceable Schools, she has deepened her knowledge and practice through training in Nonviolent Communication and Restorative Justice. Her areas of professional interest include LGBTQ advocacy, antiracism, and student/adult cooperation in the creation of positive school culture. A Bay Area native living in Oakland with her two daughters, Ilene is an avid urban adventuress and anime enthusiast, who believes life is not about finding the right answer, but rather about asking the right next question. She is grateful to be part of the Safe School Ambassadors training team. |
Ilene comes to Community Matters with over a decade’s experience empowering youth with tools to make change through peaceable means. She has implemented conflict resolution and peer mediation programs, facilitated staff/parent trainings, and developed social-emotional curricula in schools throughout Northern California.
