Too often, organization leaders lead with a 'command & control' approach, as if they were fighting a fire or waging a war.

CM:organizational effectiveness:
Climate Control

Your staff is a rich resource of energy, creativity, knowledge, and skills. They most likely have many great ideas for improving your organization to better achieve its goals, and would willingly carry them out . . . in the right climate.

But what if they are tropical plants... working in an organization with an Arctic environment?

Too often, organization leaders lead with a 'command & control' approach, as if they were fighting a fire or waging a war. Some even fear increasing the involvement of staff in all but the most low-level decision making. They can easily create a climate that neglects the needs of staff members or negates their internal motivation. For example, many organizations:

Expect high levels of commitment and want to keep the people they hire

... but fail to take the concrete steps needed to create a working environment that encourages 'going the extra mile' and naturally increases retention

Extol teamwork

... but promote based on individual performance and do little to develop team skills

Recognize the value of interdepartmental collaboration and encourage it verbally

... but still reward according to departmental achievement

As appropriate, we can help you and your leadership team work with your staff to:

  • Create a common vision of success
  • Align and harness staff energies to create a more vibrant, powerful and successful organization
  • Examine your organization in a systematic way to discover and correct its inefficiencies and inconsistencies
  • Create a climate that promotes peak performance from the inside out
