By now, most schools are prepared to respond to a crisis, but far fewer are prepared to prevent one. While Littleton, Atlanta, Paducah, and Springfield have taught us that "it could happen here," the Seven Keys are designed to ensure it doesn't.

Current school safety research and practical experience show that safe schools are achieved through a system-wide strategic approach that focuses on the prevention of violence. This comprehensive model developed by Community Matters is based on the latest research, extensive field experience, and knowledge gleaned from working with school organizations nationwide.

This presentation will provide an overview of the Seven Keys, including school-community partnerships, school safety teams, school culture changes, and strategies for engaging the least-engaged youth and parents. Participants will assess their current efforts and develop strategies for using the Seven Keys on their school campuses.
