Presentation Description

Sustaining Effective Partnerships in the 21st Century

Topic area: Partnerships & coalitions

Type: Keynote or workshop

Sustaining an effective partnership is the key to all community-wide improvement efforts. But how many of us have made a new year's resolution that we didn't keep? How many of us have been part of an important school or community initiative that started with enthusiasm only to fizzle and lose energy?

We all know this truth: it's easier to start something than to sustain it. All too often worthwhile efforts are compromised because agencies and organizations lack the skills and experience required to work together as partners.

In this presentation participants will:

  • Explore the differences between what starts and what sustains an effective partnership
  • Identify and practice the skills required for partnership success
  • Pinpoint the common and not so common obstacles to collaboration, and learn practical tools for overcoming them
  • Review 10 critical indicators required for sustaining commitment and involvement, and assess their efforts against these indicators
  • Develop strategies for increasing partnership performance that they can implement in their respective schools and communities
