Sally Ember
Outreach Coordinator

Sally has been working as an educator, youth development leader, workshop and conference facilitator, writer/editor, playwright and director, and program developer for over thirty years. She is the co-author and/or editor of several books, including ACTING OUT: The Workbook, and created many grant-funded programs for youth and families in the areas of prevention education and conflict resolution education, some of which were chosen as "best practices" by state and federal evaluators.

Trained by the Movement for a New Society and the Quaker Nonviolence Movement in the mid-1970's, Sally continued this work as one of the lead facilitators for Creative Response to Conflict/New Mexico, leading trainings for youth and youth workers/educators in Arizona and New Mexico before coming to Community Matters as the Outreach Coordinator for Safe School Ambassadors.

She taught in private, public and alternative schools, grades pre-K 12th, as well as in adult education in literacy and for college courses, undergraduate through graduate school. Sally earned her Master's and doctorate in multicultural and teacher education from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst in the 1990's, and brings this wealth of experience and training to her conversations with educators and counselors about improving school climate.
